Within the Meetings: Culture and Economics – Austria and Russia Exhibition, the Austrian National Library hosted yesterday a Presentation of the Golden Map of Russia. Masterpieces of the Russian Art Arts Album published by the State Tretyakov Picture Gallery in partnership with the Fatherland’s Treasures Museum-Supporting Foundation and with Gazprom’s financial backing.

Attending the ceremony were Michael Peisser and Udo Raap, EconGas’ Co-Runners, Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer, CEO of OMV Gas GmbH, Sergey Ushakov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee, Christoph Hiller and Dmitry Zimakov, Co-CEOs of GVH Gas – und Warenhandels GmbH, Stanislav Osadchy, the Russian Federation Ambassador to Austria, Irina Merkulova, Deputy Director General of the State Tretyakov Picture Gallery as well as public officials and representatives of Austria’s arts schools and other cultural institutions.

“Meeting challenges in economic and sci-tech cooperation with counterparts from a whole spectrum of European countries, Gazprom lays big emphasis on promoting cultural relationship. Cultural and charitable projects being implemented by Gazprom together with OMV are a vivid example of a partnership like this. I’am positive that the Book being presented today to your attention will bolster expansion of our cooperation with Austrian partners,” – stressed Sergey Ushakov.

At the same time, I’am glad that, over all these years, we’ve always paid special attention not only to economic cooperation but also to cultural and social experience sharing, for instance, when sending Russian children on vacation to Austria, arranging the Vienna Children’s Drawing Exhibition and holding today’s Book Presentation. We believe that actions like these will foster friendly relationships between Austria and Russia,” – underscored Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer.

The Golden Map of Russia. Masterpieces of the Russian Art Arts Album is part of the big Golden Map of Russia Exhibitional and Publishing Project by the Tretyakov Picture Gallery, awarded with the RF National Prize in 2003. Said Book is unparalleled among domestic and foreign arts editions and is unique for its collection of some 400 best works of the Russian fine arts and sculptures gathered by the State Tretyakov Picture Gallery and leading arts museums from 25 Russian regions. A range of images were published for the first time in the Arts Album.

The Album was first presented in Moscow and at the Frankfurt Book Fair, being a big success and receiving high evaluations by Russian and foreign press agencies. At the same time, a Presentation of the unique Book, for the 1st time powered by VerbundnetzGas AG, took place not long ago in Leipzig.

The Arts Album is planned to be exhibited in a string of European capitals, such as Prague and Paris.

The Vienna Presentation was arranged by Gazprom in conjunction with its partners OMV Gas GmbH, EconGas and GVH Gas – und Warenhandels GmbH.
