MMK industrial park adds a major European investor as a resident

PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), the Chelyabinsk Region’s Investment Development Agency, together with Rusfoundryconsult and SEEIF Ceramic, a.s. (Czech Republic) have signed a cooperation agreement at the international industrial exhibition Innoprom 2018 in Yekaterinburg.

The agreement was signed by CEO of MMK Pavel Shilyaev, Director of the Chelyabinsk Region’s Investment Development Agency, Alexey Bobov, Director of Rusfoundryconsult, Maxim Sudakov and Director of SEEIF Ceramic Tomáš Stoszek.

The parties have agreed to cooperate in the production of high-tech refractory products at the MMK Industrial Park, which should help to diversify the city’s economy, create new jobs and attract investment. Investment in the new production project will amount to RUB 680 mln and will provide employment for 150 local residents.

The new refractory products’ plant is expected to launch in H2 2019. Its key production lines will manufacture the following products:

1. taphole and ramming mixtures for blast-furnace production
2. dry refractory concrete mixtures for ferrous and non-ferrous metal industries
3. specialised vibratory casting products for ferrous and non-ferrous metal industries made of refractory concrete mixtures

The materials will be made using state-of-the-art environmentally friendly equipment by distinguished European manufacturers, and using technologies developed by leading global producers of refractory unshaped products. Thanks to the high level of automation in the technological process and therefore the high accuracy of the physicochemical properties of the final products, it is possible to expect high quality materials which will meet the most stringent metal and mining producers’ requirements.

Pavel Shilyaev, CEO of MMK, said:
MMK Industrial Park is a business-ready asset complex with an area of 65 hectares. With a comprehensive engineering infrastructure and a developed rail network, it boasts the necessary conditions for the quick launch of virtually any new production process. The Park has been accredited by the Ministry for Industry and Trade, which enables its investors to benefit from the tax relief system – zero property tax rate and 3.5% reduction in the regional part of the income tax rate. The implementation of the refractory products production project within the Industrial Park will allow the investor to integrate himself into MMK Group’s technological chain.”
