Ulyanovsk power engineers performed more than 3000 equipment surveys

The employees of the Regional Service of Insulation and Overvoltage Protection and of the Insulation Services of Production offices of Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids Branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of Rosseti) continue performing tests of power equipment. 3248 tests were performed following the results of 5 months of 2018. They included 297 tests at 0.4/6/10 kV transformer substations, 259 tests at 110/35 kV transformer substations and 8 tests at 0.4/6/10 kV overhead lines.

As early diagnostics of slowly developing defects in transformers, 193 chromatographic and 176 physical and chemical tests of transformer oil were performed. Besides, 2116 inspections of stick-pedestal insulation were performed by vibroacoustic method making it possible to detect microcracks on porcelain and prevent potential technological disturbances. B

esides, the specialists of the Regional Service of Insulation and Overvoltage Protection performed thermal imaging of power equipment at 43 substations of 110/35 kV, 12 overhead lines of 35/110 kV, 88 transformer substations of 6-10/0.4 kV. Thermal imaging makes it possible for power engineers to detect even minor defects by fixation and conversion of infrared radiation into visible spectrum. This is one of most effective methods of equipment and structures condition diagnostics without their decommissioning, by so called contactless method.

The power engineers make survey at the substations using the device UDS2VF-TsIVOM-EP for ultrasound diagnostics of high-tension porcelain structure. The device is designed to measure time intervals at non-destructive control of post and rod porcelain insulators and porcelain covers. Following the results of surveys, Branch employees replaced 6 covers for a circuit breaker VMT-110.

Timely diagnostics and monitoring of equipment condition make it possible to prevent technological disturbances in grids caused by equipment failure. All data produced in process of measurements, tests and surveys of power equipment is taken into account for formation and correction of annual production programs.
