Aeroflot and Air France signed agreement on Aeroflot adherence to Sky Team Global Alliance

Today Aeroflot-Russian Airlines Director General Valery Okulov and Air France President Jean-Cyril Spinetta signed an agreement on Aeroflot Adherence to Sky Team Global Alliance of air carriers. The Agreement is a standard procedure paper confirming officially Aeroflot meeting the Requirements on Joining the Alliance by the given date.

Within the period till the end of 2005 Aeroflot is to conduct negotiations and establish cooperation with Sky Team alliance participants in a number of key spheres including branding, schedule coordination, code-sharing, marketing, advertising and distribution, bonus programs for frequently traveling passengers, waiting rooms for high class passengers, information technologies, harmonization of standards / quality guarantee, technical services / maintenance and others.

Aeroflot in its turn within the cooperation in the alliance is getting more active in using its own system of routes in Russia and CIS countries.

According to Valery Okulov, “Aeroflot recognizing its leading role in the Russian civil aviation is getting ready thoroughly to joining Sky Team. This creates additional potential of Aeroflot and Air France coordination, produces positive influence on both companies’ indicators today as well as provides global guidelines of development of the Russian civil aviation as industry on the whole.

Jean-Cyril Spinetta stressed that the future belongs to global alliances. Sky Team is the leader of global air communication development; Aeroflot steps on the way to joining the leading alliance and creates already today new potential of progress, additional opportunities for our passengers.

Aeroflot–Russian Airlines (RTS: AFLT) is the largest Russian Company. The state owns 51 per cent of its stocks. It was established in 1923. It controls 11 per cent of home and 39 per cent of international market of air carriages of Russia. According to RAP net income amounted to 3 978 million rubles in 2003. In 2003 Aeroflot transported 5.9 million passengers. There are 92 airliners in its fleet. Its headquarter is located in Moscow in Sheremetyevo Airport. Air France makes flights to 189 destinations of 84 countries. In 2003-2004 the company transported 43.7 million passengers and its annual sales volume amounted to 12.53 billion Euros. Its air fleet consists of 357 planes including 117 ones making regional flights. Air France make 1800 daily flights.
