Following the results of 2017, Branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (member of Rosseti) – Chuvashenergo – was able to reduce actual power losses in power grids down to 266.4 M kWh, which amounts to 6.57% from the volume of power output to the grid. Compared to 2016, reduction of power loss volume in company grids amounted to 11 M kWh. Savings expressed in terms of money amounted to more than 22.34 M RUB. Work to reduce losses in grids is one of priority activities for Chuvashenergo Branch.

For this purpose the enterprise prepares and approves on an annual basis the Program of Power Loss Reduction Actions, state-of-the-art technologies are introduced, during reconstruction new energy-saving equipment is installed, and other actions are performed, which are aimed at reduction of losses and improvement of power supply reliability for consumers. Thus, in process of more than 400 raids organized by power engineers jointly with law enforcement agencies in 2017, 778 facts of off-the-meter power consumption and power consumption without execution of an agreement were detected in the quantity of 2.6 M kWh for the amount of 5.4 M RUB. Experts of the Branch issued 536 acts of off-the-meter power consumption for 1.4 M kWh, which is practically comparable to the volume of monthly average power consumption in Shumerlinskiy district of the Chuvash Republic. Based on applications sent to the police in 2017, administrative action was brought against some dishonest consumers under Article 7.19 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation. Chuvashenergo Branch reminds to residents of the Chuvash Republic that it is prohibited to consume power off-the-meter and without an agreement. Unauthorized connection and unapproved power consumption may cause process disturbances in power equipment operation, directly threaten life and health of consumers, are not simply theft, but relate to offences that undermine power security of the region.
