Employees of PJSC IDGC of Volga participate in the technical meeting on issues of digitization and automation of electric grids sector

PJSC IDGC of Volga (member of Rosseti Group) held a technical meeting to discuss the issues of transferring to a digital electrical chain: creation of digital RES and a digital substation.

Ñreation of digital RES and digital substations is a priority direction of development for Rosseti Group. Transfer to a digital electric grid will help improve management of the grid in real time, control the parameters and modes of operation of all grid elements, including self-diagnostic and self-repair of the grid.

 The meeting was attended by more than 60 people, including representatives of PJSC IDGC of Volga, manufacturers of electrotechnical equipment (Prosoft-Systemy LLC, TEQUEL Razrabotka LLC, Stroycom-A LLC, Tavrdia Electric LLC), as well as representatives of NITSE JSC, created upon the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation in order to promote the process of introducing innovative and energy effective technologies and solutions in the fuel and energy sector of Russia.

The meeting also considered the issues of introducing smart grid technologies with use of digital telemechanics and remote control systems, and transfer of information according to protocols MEC 60870, MEC 61850, etc. Use of modern technologies will help bring together various functions within the united system. All the processes of information exchange among elements and external systems, as well as facility management processes will be carried out in the digital form with use of MEC protocols. A transfer to digital grids will require building electrical grid facilities with a high level of technological process automation, and setup of IT and control systems and means.

The meeting also discussed the process of setting up digital substations. At the present time, IDGC of Volga is working on a priority research project to develop model technical solutions for the 110 kV digital substations, and structures for different systems in such model substations. The solution will need to incorporate the function of redistributing functions of secondary equipment and include albums of model solutions and model files of electronic format configuration in accordance with MEC 61850 standard.
