Meeting of Coordinating Committee for cooperation between Gazprom and Siemens held

St. Petersburg hosted today a meeting of the Coordinating Committee for cooperation between Gazprom and Siemens AG, co-chaired by Bogdan Budzulyak, Gazprom’s Management Committee Member and Head of Gazprom’s Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department and Dr. Henryk Frystacki, Vice-President of Siemens AG and President of Siemens in Russia.

The meeting summed up the results of cooperation between the 2 companies from the beginning of 2004 as well as addressed the implementation of joint projects on comprehensive supplies of the Baltika 25 gas-pumping units intended for the upgrading and construction of Gazprom-owned compressor stations. As a result, the parties paid a visit to the Demag Delaval Power Nevsky Plant, a Gazprom and Siemens’s joint venture, meeting Gazprom’s soaring needs for high-quality gas-turbine equipment.

The Coordinating Committee’s Working Groups pointed to substantial progress in the optimization of joint businesses in telecommunications networks and information technologies, compressor stations and telemedicine.

“Cooperation between Gazprom and Siemens is dynamically developing. Introduction of joint advanced sci-tech solutions and devices aimes to optimize the Russian United Gas Transmission System (UGTS) functioning as well as to establish environment for the domestic production of the needed gas industry equipment,” – underlined Bogdan Budzulyak.

Founded in 1847, the German-based company Siemens AG is an internationally renowned producer of electronics and electrical engineering devices, operating in information technology and communications, automation and control systems, power generation, transportation, medicine, lighting engineering and other sectors.

The company started operating on the Russian market back in 1853. At present, Siemens has its affiliates in Russia’s 30 regions and is one of the leading suppliers of products, services and advanced technologies intended to modernize Russia’s key economic industries.

Gazprom and Siemens have been cooperating since 1993. Major joint projects were implemented in the sphere of telecommunications and technological process automation. In particular, the companies created the Gazsvyaz Moscow Digital Communications Zone and Data Transmission Network, the Caspiygazprom Automated Telephone System Network, and the Gaztelecom Communications System. The companies also automated a comprehensive gas treatment unit at the Yamburgskoye field.

For the time being, Gazprom and Siemens are involved in projects on upgrading automation systems at gas condensate production and treatment facilities of the Yamburgskoye field. Automated control and telemechanics systems of the UGTS facilities, telecommunication networks and information technology are priority directions of cooperation between the companies

Gazprom and Siemens are also involved in developing advanced technologies for Gazprom’s needs, that are used in equipment manufacturing in Russia.
