Personnel appointments

Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman issued a Directive to appoint Sergey Zhvachkin as Kubangazprom’s Director General.

Born in 1957, Sergey Zhvachkin graduated in 1979 from the Industrial and Civil Construction Faculty of the Tyumen Engineering & Construction Institute. S. Zhvachkin started his career as an ordinary craftsman and later on was promoted to the position of the Deputy Manager of the Tomskneftestroy Trust Company.

Over 1985 to 1988, S. Zhvachkin was acting as Deputy Head of the Vasyuganneft Oil and Gas Production Association. Between 1989 and 1994, he was serving as Manager of the Tomskneftestroy Trust Company.

In 1994, S. Zhvachkin became Tomskgaz’s Director General.

In July 1999, Mr. Zhvachkin was named as Vostokgazprom’s President.

Sergey Zhvachkin will soon be introduced to the team of Kubangazprom.

Vitaly Yakovlev, formerly serving as Vostokgazprom’s First Vice-President, was appointed as President of said company.

Kubangazprom is a 100% Gazprom subsidiary comprised of 20 structural units operating in the Kuban and Rostov regions, as well as in the Republic of Adygea.

The length of the Kubangazprom-owned gas main network totals 5.5 thousand km, with annual throughput exceeding 16 bcm of gas.

The company operates 49 gas and condensate fields. At present, Kubangazprom annually extracts 1.6 bcm of gas and 150 thousand tons of gas condensate. The company also possesses plants processing hydrocarbon feedstock and producing gasoline, diesel fuel and fuel oil. Kubangazprom is performing a total scope of work on equipping motor vehicles with gas-driven engines and operates 13 automated gas-fuelling compressor stations.

Simultaneously, Kubangazprom is the general contractor of the Russia-Turkey gas pipeline construction (the Blue Stream Project). In February 2003, first gas was channeled via the Blue Stream gas pipeline. 4 bcm of gas are targeted for transmission this year.

Vostokgazprom, a Gazprom subsidiary, was incorporated in 1999 to coordinate Gazprom’s activities in eastern Russia. Gazprom’s share in Vostokgazprom’s charter capital accounts for 99.98%. Vostokgazprom’s major businesses are hydrocarbon feedstock exploration, production and processing, development of transmission lines and gas distribution.

The company is developing the Myldzhinskoye and Severo-Vasyuganskoye gas and condensate fields brought on stream on 20 May 1999 and 26 July 2002, respectively. At present, Vostokgazprom annually withdraws from these fields over 3.5 bcm of gas, with more than 15 bcm already extracted since the commissioning of the fields.

Gas produced from the Myldzhinskoye and Severo-Vasyuganskoye fields is being supplied to consumers residing in the Tomsk, Novosibirsk and Omsk regions as well as in the Altai and Kuzbass areas. The industrial (65% of the total gas distributed) and energy (25%) sectors are key consumers of Vostokgazprom’s gas and some 10% are consumed by the agroindustrial and residential sectors.
