RUSAL announces changes to Krasnoyarsk smelter management

RUSAL, one of the leading world aluminum producers, announced today changes in the company’s management team, as a result of which Duncan Hedditch, Managing Director of the Krasnoyarsk smelter, will move to the Moscow head office to concentrate his efforts on development of RUSAL’s new alumina and aluminium businesses. Konstantin Steblin, former senior manager with the Krasnoyarsk smelter, has been named acting Managing Director.

During his last two years as Krasnoyarsk smelter Managing Director, Mr. Hedditch, 50, has successfully turned the smelter into one of the most efficient and modern Russian aluminium plants, and prepared it for a large-scale modernization. This experience is now being extended to RUSAL's other smelters. Changes in production processes, environmental policies and personnel management practices, all initiated by Mr.Hedditch, have already achieved significant results.

In his new position, Mr Hedditch will be responsible for RUSAL's international projects, aiming to develop and expand the company's alumina and aluminium businesses. This position will rely on his experience in managing foreign assets and large international projects.

Konstantin Steblin, 52, formerly Director of Electrolysis production, has 30 years experience working in the Russian aluminium industry, particularly at the Krasnoyarsk smelter, and strong management skills. Mr.Steblin has worked closely with Mr. Hedditch during the last two years, focusing on the structural and management changes introduced at the smelter.

Mr. Steblin's appointment demonstrates the success of the reforms and improved business processes launched at the Krasnoyarsk smelter under Mr. Hedditch's management and underlines RUSAL's policy of internal advancement within management.
