Gazprom launches production from Nydinskaya area in Medvezhye field

Gazprom has launched gas production from the Nydinskaya area in the Medvezhye field.

A comprehensive gas treatment unit (CGTU-N) and 20 wells have been put onstream. In 2012 the area will reach the projected output of 2.3 billion cubic meters of gas and over 5 thousand tons of gas condensate per annum upon commissioning of seven additional wells.

“Gazprom is consistently putting onstream new production capacities in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Meanwhile, we are efficiently exploiting the potential of the existing fields in the Nadym-Pur-Taz by accessing deeper deposits lying below the conventional Cenomanian ones. For instance, this spring we launched gas production from the Valanginian deposits of the giant Zapolyarnoye field and today – from the Apt-Albian deposits of another giant – the Medvezhye field,” commented Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.

Background

The Medvezhye oil, gas and condensate field is situated in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO). The field is being developed by Gazprom dobycha Nadym (wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom).

On April 7, 2011 Gazprom commissioned the Valanginian deposits facilities producing gas and gas condensate at the Zapolyarnoye oil, gas and condensate field (YaNAO). Gazprom dobycha Yamburg (wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom) is developing the field.

Between 2001 and 2011 Gazprom put into operation new production capacities with a total projected output of over 230 billion cubic meters of gas per year:

  • Aneryakhinskaya area in the Yamburgskoye field – 10 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Vyngaiakhinskoye field – 5 billion cubic meters per year;
  • En-Yakhinskoye field – 5 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Yety-Purovskoye field – 15 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Zapolyarnoye field (Cenomanian deposits) – 100 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Zapolyarnoye field (Valanginian deposits) – 6.5 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Zapadno-Pestsovaya area in the Urengoyskoye field – 2 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Pestsovaya area in the Urengoyskoye field – 27.5 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Tab-Yakhinskaya area in the Urengoyskoye field – 5 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Kharvutinskaya area in the Yamburgskoye field – 25 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Yuzhno-Russkoye field – 25 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Yareyskaya area in the Yamsoveyskoye field – 1.25 billion cubic meters per year;
  • Block 2 of the Achimov deposits in the Urengoyskoye field – 3.5 billion cubic meters per year.

The Cenomanian deposits with hydrocarbon reserves are located at the depth of 1,100 to 1,700 meters, the Apt-Albian and Valanginian deposits – at 1,700 to 3,200 meters, the Achimov deposits – 4,000 meters.
