MOSENERGO (TGC-3)

December 15, 2004

AO MOSENERGO launched two new substations

The Southern Grids of AO MOSENERGO have launched 110/10kV substation Yubileinaya and a 110 kV Vykhino. They will provide power to the southern part of the capital and utilities of Dzerzhinsky town in Moscow region.

The construction and installation continued throughout 2004. Yubileinaya was a Greenfield project and Vykhino was modernized, but the scale of the upgrade corresponded to construction from ground zero.

AO MOSENERGO specialists designed and built substations based on the latest trends in the development of power supply systems. AO MOSENERGO applied modern techniques that make it possible to increase the reliability, efficiency and safety of the substation. The substations run on automated control and monitoring systems that increase the operations quality and simplify the technological process. The 110kV distribution equipment includes sulfur-hexafluoride circuit switches (manufactured by ABB) that are more reliable than oil switches used before. Transformers for the substations were produced at Moscow Elektrozavod Plant (two 63,000 kVA transformers at Yubileinaya and two 40,000 kVA transformers at Vykhino).

New substations are safe and simple to operate. In addition to reliability and quality, AO MOSENERGO specialists paid attention to the way they fit in the urban environment. They are closed-type substations (all equipment is located inside). The design incorporated interesting ideas, and noise reduction systems make the operation almost noiseless (to prevent discomfort for surrounding residential buildings).

New substations are part in parcel of the Electric Grid Development Program of AO MOSENERGO. New electric grids and new capacities should meet the growing power consumption needs. Due to robust residential construction, production growth and infrastructure development, in recent years annual power consumption growth rates in Moscow region exceeded 5%. By this indicator, Moscow and Moscow region are indisputable leaders among Russian regions.
