On June 11, 2004 the Southern Branch of Rostelecom celebrated its 50th anniversary. The solemn ceremony taking place in Rostov-on-Don gathered the staff of the branch, Rostelecom's management, the Company's partners and clients.

The General Director of Rostelecom Dmitry Yerokhin in his letter of congratulation underlined: «Dear colleagues! Accept my congratulations with the jubilee. For fifty years much has been done and today — thanks to your work — the Southern region of Russia obtains up-to-date telecommunications technologies and all the residents are provided with modern telecom services. I would like to appreciate your professionalism and to express my sincere gratitude for your high responsibility and firmness even in the most challenging conditions. And the deepest recognition I would like to deliver to the veterans whose efforts helped to build up the current success of the Southern Branch. I wish all employees of the branch happiness and prosperity as well as further achievements and stable development».

During the celebration First Deputy General Director of Rostelecom Vladimir Terekhov rewarded 20 best specialists, who have worked for the Company for many years, with diplomas while some other employees of the Southern Branch got honorary title «Master Svyazy» («Master of Telecommunications»). Among them there were A. Colubintsev, engineer; P. Chupakhin, principal engineer of Regional Center-3 traffic department; A. Babaitsev, cable-relay shop manager of Regional Center-5; I. Ostapchuk, casthouse manager of Regional Center-2; N. Gluschenko, head of the main control unit ? 9 of Regional Center-3. B. Sumaniov, radio and TV engineer of Regional Center-2, was awarded with the «Honorary radio operator» breastplate.
