The company's 2001 revenues rose 32.8% and stood at Rub 838.3 mn. Costs rose 36.4% and reached Rub 628.5 mn. Profit was also up 20.2% and stood at Rub 158.9 mn. Net profit was Rub 73.9 mn.
Capital investments for 2001 totaled Rub 219 mn. The company built 25,000 new urban and rural lines. The utilization output ratio for rural lines was 94.1% and 91.6% for urban lines. Long-distance traffic rose 46.5% while international traffic increased 35.8%.
A BoD meeting was held in mid-March at which the company's 2002 business plan was approved. According to the new business plan active telecommunications construction is to continue in the Republic in 2002. The current digital facilities will be expanded by 2 and 3 thousand lines in the cities of Syktyvar and Usinsk. Coorindate switching facilities are to be converted into digital facilities in Evma, Sosnogorsk and Nizhny Odes to add on 18,000 new lines. Additional digital facilities are also to be installed at ATE in Ukhta and Pechora using ISDN (Integrated Service Digital Network), which also enable the company to expand into rural areas and villages. Construction also continues on the Pechora-Inta route.
The 2002 budget has been the most difficult throughout all the years of the company's existence. In 2002 revenues should increase 28% or reach Rub 230 mn with an insignificant rise in costs.
