Minsk Automotive plant has increased the consumption four times up to 40,000 tonnes a year thus becoming Severstal’s key target customer.
“We will now work closely with our client to find out what he needs. Coordination councils will later involve technical, production and sales departments personnel and will meet every six months,” said Dmitry Goroshkov, Severstal’s sales director.
The Coordinating Council has set the priorities for the future time period. They are mastering manufacturing of an increased range of 50 mm diameter pipes, test shipments of steel with alumosiliceous coating, and wider use of that in components and units of MAZ’ vehicles.
Presently, Severstal meets 40% of MAZ’ demand in rolled steel. By 2003 this figure will go up to 50%.
