Gazprom’s delegation visits Vyksa Steel Works

Gazprom delegation led by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee today paid a visit to the Vyksa Steel Works. The delegation was comprised of Yaroslav Golko, Member of the Management Committee, Head of the Investment & Construction Department as well as heads and specialists of the Gazprom Administration and its subsidiaries – Gazkomplektimpex and VNIIGAZ.

The delegation took part in the meeting dedicated to the launch of large diameter pipes (LDP) production, intended for the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas trunkline construction.

Addressing the meeting, Alexander Ananenkov emphasized that large long-term orders placed by Gazprom in the domestic market had given a strong impetus to the pipe industry development.

“Gazprom not only secures the loading of the Russian largest LDP plants. Putting the highest demands on purchased products to be applied in extreme environmental conditions, the Company fosters the development of science intensive technologies, promotes the competitiveness of domestic pipe producers in the global market.

As a result, increasingly more Russian pipe plants start turning out products unrivalled in the global practice. This March the Izhora Pipe Plant mastered production of unique 1,420 mm, 120 Ata LDP. Today we are witnessing the launch of industrial production of pipes with equally high technical parameters at the Vyksa Steel Works. These pipes will be utilized during the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas trunkline construction,” said Alexander Ananenkov.

In January 2002, the Gazprom Management Committee identified the Yamal Peninsula as a region of the Company’s strategic interest. Commercial development of Yamal fields will enable to build up local gas production to 250 bcmpa. Accessing the Yamal is of utter importance for the purpose of ensuring gas production growth.

The Cenomanian - Aptian deposits of the Bovanenkovskoye field are a paramount development target on the Yamal.

Projected gas production from the Bovanenkovskoye field is identified at 115 bcmpa to be increased to 140 bcmpa in the long-term. In order to deliver extracted gas to UGSS, it is necessary to construct a 2,451-km-long gas transportation system including a new 1,100-km-long gas transportation corridor from Bovanenkovo to Ukhta.

The Vyksa Steel Works is part of the United Metallurgical Company. The plant is located in the town of Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
