On 6th meeting of International Supervisory Board of Energy Delta Institute

The Bogorodskoye Reception Hall hosted the 6th meeting of the International Supervisory Board of the Energy Delta Institute.

Attending the meeting were Sergey Ushakov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Marcel Kramer, Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer of Gasunie, Boris Kuzmin, Head of the Gazprom Personnel Management Department, Eric Dam, Member of the Executive Board of Gasunie and Volko de Jong, Managing Director of the Energy Delta Institute.

The participants reviewed EDI’s operating results between 2005 and 2006, underscoring that 90 employees of Gazprom had been attending workshops at EDI from January 2005 to October 2006. The workshops were dedicated to the Latest Technological Developments in the UGS Field, Gas Dispatching, Strategic Use of IT in the Gas Industry.

The workshops were highly appreciated by the students. Before year-end Gazprom’s top managers and employees will have the opportunity to attend the workshops on the following subjects: Increasing the Lifespan of Large Gas Fields, Pipeline Integrity Management.

The meeting also addressed EDI’s projected apprenticeship programs and activity for 2007 as well as new forms of cooperation in experience sharing among Gazprom and Gasunie’s specialists.

In particular, the participants discussed and approved the initiative of the Gazprom Central Production Dispatch Department to create an International School of Dispatchers within EDI. At present, the above Department in conjunction with the Gazprom Personnel Management Department is engaged in developing a School of Dispatchers concept.

In 2001 Gazprom and Gasunie took up the initiative of implementing a joint project aimed at sharing knowledge and work experience in the energy sector. The initiative was backed by the Russian and Dutch Governments. The project progressed under the Gas University working title. Later on, the Groningen University joined the project and together with Gasunie set up the Energy Delta Institute.

From September 2002, specialists from Gazprom, RF Energy Ministry, Gasunie, Shell and other businesses have regularly studied in the Netherlands based Meerwold training centre within programs covering the strategic development, market mechanisms and economic aspects within the gas industry.

In 2003 Gazprom, Gasunie and EDI inked an Agreement of Cooperation in staff training and knowledge exchange in the energy sector.
