Rostelecom participated in the joint meeting of RCC Telecommunication Operators Board and Telecommunications Commission

Rostelecom’s delegation attended the 19th/15th joint meeting of the Telecommunication Operators Board and Telecommunications Commission of Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC) held in Kishinev, Moldova on October 6-7, 2006.

Among the participants there were Deputy Head of the Communications Ministry’s Department for governmental programs in the infocommunications field T. Moiseeva, RCC’s Deputy General Director M. Kozhakin as well as the representatives of Communications Administrations and operators from Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Tadjikistan, Belorussia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan.

At the meeting, Rostelecom made a report on telecom market trends under liberalization and possible cooperation of the CIS operators for the development of new telecommunications services. The CIS operators showed interest in developing IP-based services together with Rostelecom as well as in the additional PSTN traffic transit services.

The Telecommunication Operators Board made a decision for the CIS operators to sign cooperative agreements on providing International Freephone Service. This initiative was taken by Rostelecom at the previous RCC Telecommunication Operators Board meeting in March 2006 in order to widen the range of intelligent network services as well as to meet the growing demand of Russian corporate users for Freephone (800) numbers in the CIS countries.
