ROSSETI

February 5, 2021

Rosseti to invest 38 billion rubles in the development of distribution networks in the St. Petersburg agglomeration

Investments are planned for this year. This was agreed by Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, and Andrey Ryumin, Acting Director General of PJSC Rosseti, during a working meeting held today in Smolny. The Head of the city and the Head of the company discussed the work deliverables of the distribution grid complex in St. Petersburg.

"Thanks to Rosseti's work, a unified centre of responsibility for power supply to consumers has been created in our city. The management has been arranged, costs and production processes have been optimized. All this helps to limit the tariff burden on citizens and businesses. We will continue our cooperation at the same pace," said Alexander Beglov.

The Governor thanked Andrey Ryumin for the company's work during the pandemic. He noted that there was not a single serious disruption in the power supply of medical institutions, social facilities, transport and communications.

Alexander Beglov added that a lot of work is currently being done in St. Petersburg to create a comfortable urban environment and restore business activity. To do this, according to the governor, it is necessary to develop the energy complex and the corresponding infrastructure.

Rosseti Lenenergo is one of the largest infrastructure organizations in St. Petersburg. Last year, following the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, a five-year work was completed to consolidate the city's grid assets on the company's basis. JSC Kurortenergo, JSC CEC, JSC SPb ES, JSC PES were merged.

As Andrey Ryumin said, the consolidation is intended to improve the reliability and quality of power supply to St. Petersburg residents. According to him, recently Rosseti Lenenergo has achieved a stable positive trend: in 2020, the number of power supply interruptions has significantly decreased, and the recovery time has decreased by almost a third.

“This is the result of large-scale investments in the development of the energy system of St. Petersburg and adjacent districts of the Leningrad region. In three years, their volume amounted to more than 95 billion rubles. 18 advanced high-tech substations, almost 3,500 MVA of transformer capacity and more than 6,700 km of new power transmission lines have been put into operation," said Andrey Ryumin.

Discussing plans for the next year, the Governor and the Head of Rosseti agreed that the key project would be the development of the Petrogradsky district network. The construction and reconstruction of 11 substations of 35 kV and 110 kV will be completed. In addition, digital solutions will be applied in their operation. The introduction of an intelligent electricity metering system will be continued - 44,000 smart meters will be installed in the city.
