– September 12, 2006 – “COMSTAR – United TeleSystems”
(“Comstar UTS”) (LSE: CMST), the leading provider of integrated communications
services in Moscow, today announced the appointment of Vladimir Malyavin as General
Director of MTU-Intel, subsidiary of Comstar UTS, providing broadband Internet
services and pay-TV under the Stream brand. Grigory Novitsky, who has until recently
served in this position, has left MTU-Intel to join Sistema Mass-Media.
Mr. Malyavin has previously served as the General Director of CJSC Makomnet,
Moscow telecom operator. Between 2000 and 2005, Mr. Malyavin held the position of
Deputy General Director of CJSC Metro-Telecom and was responsible for the rollout of
the wireless telecommunications network in Moscow Underground and the installation
of emergency systems infrastructure. Mr. Malyavin is a member of the International
Academy of Informatization and of the International Academy of Telecommunications.
Mr. Malyavin holds a Degree from the Nakhimov Navy Academy and an MBA from the
International University in Moscow.
