On November 18-21, led by Achim Saul, Chairman of the Lietuvos Dujos Board of Directors and Viktoras Valentukevicius, General Manager of Lietuvos Dujos, accompanied by representatives of the Lithuanian state authorities, a company delegation was on a study visit to the facilities of Gazprom dobycha Yamburg and Gazprom dobycha Urengoy – the largest gas production companies of Gazprom.
Within the visit presentations were made on Gazprom dobycha Yamburg and Gazprom dobycha Urengoy’s activities and meetings were held between the delegation members and top managers of both companies. The parties discussed the issues surrounding technological peculiarities of gas production in the Extreme North environment, as well as the social responsibility of gas production companies.
The delegation visited production facilities in the Yamburg and Pestsovoye fields and social infrastructure facilities in Yamburg and Novy Urengoy.
Based on the visit results the delegation members underscored the importance of experience exchange between Gazprom and Lietuvos Dujos and expressed their hope for cooperation deepening in this area.
Background:
Lithuanian gas company Lietuvos Dujos occupies a dominant position on the national gas market, dealing with gas purchase, transmission, distribution and marketing in the Lithuanian Republic. The company operates some 1,840 km of high-pressure gas pipelines and distributes natural gas via the pipelines of 7,479 km in total length.
Since 2004 Gazprom has been Lietuvos Dujos’s shareholder with a 37 per cent stake. Approximately 3 bcm of Russian gas is annually supplied to Lithuania. Lietuvos Dujos transits Russian gas to the Kaliningrad Oblast. In 2008 the volume of gas transit will account for some 1.3 bcm.
