Forty Thousand (40 000) subscribers, of both residential and business sectors, were totally cut off from any telephone communication. The fire had been extinguished by 4 o'clock in the morning of 15 February.
Immediately after extinguishing the fire, an intensive restoration work was started, and is continued at the moment. The work will proceed on a twenty-four-hour basis until the communication within the damaged infrastructures has been restored in full. The entire restoration work is coordinated by a specific Repair Operations Management Team headed by M. Vladimir S. Lagutin, PJSC MGTS General Director.
At 17:00, the operation of Telephone Exchanges 281 and 288 was restored, the Offices functioning in the limited incoming traffic mode. The subscriber lines are presently being tested, after which the communication at the said exchanges will be renewed in full stream. The restoration of 284 and 971 Telephone Exchanges will be finalized within the ten days' time frame.
A round-the-clock operation of mobile free public call offices is set up in Schepkina Street and its neighborhood. Besides, 100 public payphones located nearby that are within within the Zamoskvoretskiy Telephone Node service area, are converted into a free-call operation mode.
The Public Joint Stock Company Moscow City Telephone Network (MGTS) expresses its apologies to all subscribers affected through the damage of the said Exchanges and the resultant inconveniences, and guarantees their restoration in entirety within the shortest space of time. |
