On August 27-29 JSC AECC welcomed an inception visit by a delegation of the French company AREVA. The delegation included Armand Laferrère, AREVA’s Senior Vice-President for Russia and the CIS, Michel Jamard, Director for Communications, and Michael Irgang, Commercial Director of CIFAL. On the part of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom the guests were accompanied by the Director of the Department for Communication with Public Organizations and Regions Igor Konyshev.

AREVA representatives visited the AECC Information Center, were introduced to active production process at the separation plant, met AECC and Angarsk District administration officials.

The French colleagues were impressed by the Russian gas centrifuge uranium enrichment technology and staff motivation.

The French guests especially noted the AECC’s automated radiation and chemical environment control system as good professional practice. “It is extremely important in the nuclear industry that relations with local self-government authorities and local population are based on principles of transparency and openness,” stressed Michel Jamard, Director for Communications. “The information displays installed at the AECC production site and in the Angarsk residential district are a good example of that. AREVA is using a similar system for informing the population on the state of environment, but not in real time so far.”

In general, the guests gave high appraisal of the production engineering level and  PR policy pursued by Rosatom throughout the country.
