On August 28 the solemn ceremony of start of the 4th heat conducting path construction from Togliatti TPP to Avtozavodsky district of Togliatti took place. New trunk creation is the core element of the Togliatti power generation center development program that is a part of Volga TGC 5-year investment program. Successful implementation of the Company’s program will help to overcome the deficiency of thermal energy and secure future power loads of Avtozavodsky district till 2015.

Currently, three districts of Togliatti are supplied with heat from different sources. Residents of the Central district and enterprises of industrial area receive heat from Togliatti TPP. Heat supply of AVTOVAZ and Avtozavodsky district is provided by another affiliate of Volga TGC – VAZ TPP. Inhabitants of Komsomolsky district are supplied with heat by municipal boiler houses.

In mid nineties a number of industrial enterprises terminated their industrial activity and Togliatti TPP lost part of its load. That caused the substantial capacity reserve. On the contrary, VAZ TPP has been experiencing deficiency in capacities necessary for new consumers and possible increase of VAZ production.

Meanwhile, the master plan of Togliatti development for the period until 2015 and industrial consumers’ (AVTOVAZ in the first place) plans for production capacities extension provide for heat consumption increase by 1370 GCal/h, where about 70% of new loads fall on Avtozavodsky district.

The project of thermal power transfer from Togliatti TPP to Avtozavodsky district was developed within the framework of Samaraenergo in order to overcome possible heat power deficiency and to meet the future demand of the city for thermal power. At a later stage this project was included into Volga TGC’s investment program for 2007-2011.

First stage of the project was completed in October 2006. The new 5.2 km long heating main already supplies heat to new houses of 14? and 17? blocks of Avtograd. It resulted in transfer of additional 120 GCal/hour of thermal power to Avtozavodsky district.

The second, large-scale project stage started in August 2007. Along with construction of new 9.5 km long heating main the power company shall reconstruct heating units of VAZ TPP and Togliatti TPP for heat loads increase.

Togliatti power center development program will enable VAZ TPP to accommodate new heating loads of 610 GCal/hour and Togliatti TPP – to accommodate 760 GCal/hour, including 330 GCal/hour in Avtozavorsky district. It is expected that the above projects implementation will secure additional generation and output of electric power of 3080 mln. kWh per year and additional thermal power output of 4330 K Gcal per year.

In memory of the first Company’s implementation project the symbolic graffiti picture was made on one of the pipes by the local artist Anton Kurushin. The picture symbolizes the heat of TPP that heats the city in all weather. The picture will be kept under insulation for the whole life cycle of pipe, after the tube replacement it will be handed over to one of the city’s museums.
