Based on preliminary 2002 results of the business activity of mega-regional operator Volga Telecom the company generated RUR 10,461,000,000 from core activity, which is up 30.6% on the year-earlier period. Gross revenue stood at RUR 10,964,000,000, which was up 30.4% year on year.
Pre-tax earnings posted a gain of 67.3 percent compared with 2001, according to preliminary results, reaching RUR 2.1 billion. Net profit increased to RUR 1.6 billion, up 244.9%) EBITDA stood at RUR 3.1 billion (up 137.2%). Profit margin before taxation was 27.2%, while net profit margin was 20.6%.
All in all, maintenance costs at South Telecommunications Company amounted to RUR 7.7 billion. Maintenance costs were down by 8.5% compared with the previous year, to 117.8%.
The company's investments in network facilities increased by 76.3% compared with 2001, figures, reaching RUR 3.4 billion. In 2002 growth in total line capacity was 201,000, compared with 167,000 in 2001, which is a rise of 20.3% year on year.
