Orel, 22 July 2008. Orlovsky branch of OJSC INTER RAO UES has been active on the wholesale electric power market for over six months. The branch purchases electric power for its consumers directly from generation companies.

In the six months of this year, the Branch purchased 327.2 million kWh of electric power for its customers, which is 7.2 million kWh more than in the same period of last year.

In the first half year of 2008 the company fully met its customers’ needs and supplied for the needs of the region RUB 724.5 million worth of electricity, and RUB 499.1 million worth of electricity – for the needs of Orel city. For comparison: in the six months of 2007 RUB 605.8 million worth of electricity was supplied and RUB 418.6 million worth of electricity – for the needs of the region’s capital.

The level of electric power sales of Orlovsky branch of OJSC INTER RAO UES grew by 2.1% in the six months of this year versus the same period of last year and amounted to 96.5%.

In June, 44.3 million kWh of electricity was purchased for consumers including 8.0 million kWh – at market prices on the current wholesale electric power market. These prices have been fixed as a result of competitive bids. It is worth noting that the amount of consumer debt for electricity to Orlovsky branch in the first half year of 2008 grew by RUB 25.6 million and as of 01.07.2008 it amounted to RUB 136.5 million.

Remember that the supply of electric power to private consumers is performed only at regulated prices - tariffs.
