Moscow. 5 July 2005. According to the latest updates, in the first six months of 2005, the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" increased generation of electricity year-on-year by 1,3% to 335,8 billion kWh from 331,6 billion kWh. Within this period, the hydroelectric power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 64,9 billion kWh, down 0,3% from the same period last year, whereas the thermal plants' generation grew 1,6% to 270,9 billion kWh.
In June 2005 the power plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 44.9 billion kWh, which is comparable to the same period last year. During the month, the hydropower plants of RAO "UES of Russia" generated 12,3 billion kWh, while the Company's thermal power plants produced 32,6 billion kWh.
The increased output of electricity by RAO UES power plants made it possible to meet the growing electricity consumption in the country, which rose from 460,1 billion kWh to 467 billion kWh, or 1.5%, in January-June 2005.
