Powered by Gazprom and its Orgenergogaz subsidiary, the Diagnostics – 2005 15th International Business Meeting (IBM) was attended by 303 representatives of 83 companies based in 14 countries of the world. Presiding the Meeting was Bogdan Budzulyak, Member to Gazprom’s Management Committee, Head of Gazprom’s Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department and Vice Chairman of the Diagnostics – 2005 IBM Steering Committee.
In delivering a report at the IBM Plenary Session, Bogdan Budzulyak emphasized that “diagnostics was playing a key role for the United Gas Transmission System security and safety. And therefore, further optimizing and enhancing the diagnostics efficiency was a major challenge set by Gazprom’s top management”.
Representatives of Gazprom, Orgenergogaz, VNIIGAZ, Russia and CIS-based gas transmission companies, research institutions and a range of international firms presented reports at the Meeting and highlighted state-of-the-art approaches being maintained towards the gas industry infrastructure diagnostics.
The IBM participants underscored that the 14th IBM Diagnostics – 2004 conclusions were being taken into consideration by the engineering companies operating in the gas production, transmission, storage and distribution infrastructure inspection and repair sector.
The Diagnostics – 2005 IBM addressed the following major topics:
- Diagnostics of gas pipeline transmission part and production infrastructure;
- Diagnostics of equipment, compressor stations and automobile gas-fuelling compressor stations;
- Technical and dispatching maintenance of the United Gas Transmission System inspection and repairs.

First held in 1991 in the city of Yalta, the International Business Meeting (IBM) dedicated to the gas industry infrastructure diagnostics is conducted on a yearly basis for top executives and experts of oil and gas companies, scientists, inspection tool developers and producers.
The IBM major objectives are as follows:
- Developing the gas industry equipment and infrastructure inspection services, fundamentals and tools;
- Colligating the experience of applying various diagnostics methods, facilities and systems in the gas industry;
- Deciding on the most promising directions of cooperation in the gas industry equipment and infrastructure inspection, including international interaction deepening;
- Identifying the gas equipment defect origination.
Founded back in 1971, the Orgenergogaz subsidiary specializes in the pipeline inspection, repair and maintenance. Orgenergogaz’s experts were involved in the Soyuz, Urengoy – Pomary – Uzhgorod, Yamal – Europe, Blue Stream and Zapolyarnoye - Urengoy gas pipeline engineering and commissioning as well as performed a string of services at oil and gas facilities in Algeria, Libya, Iraq, Poland, Bulgaria and other countries.
