Today, the Gazprom Headquarters has hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Valery Shantsev, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
The parties discussed the progress with implementing the Agreement of cooperation between Gazprom and the Nizhny Novgorod. Particularly, the parties examined issues on developing the regional gas supply system. Additionally, the meeting discussed the preparation by SIBUR of a construction project for a PVC production complex on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

The Agreement of cooperation and the Agreement for gasification between Gazprom and the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Administration were signed in January 2002 and October 2006, respectively.
The Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is currently gasified by 69.7 per cent including 81.8 per cent in cities, towns & urban settlements and 34.4 per cent in rural area. The average rates in Russia are at 54 per cent, 61 per cent, 36 per cent, respectively.
In 2006 Gazprom supplied nearly 7.7 bcm of gas and the same amount is slated for this year.
In accordance with the gasification program for the Russian Federation regions, in 2006 Gazprom committed RUR 308 mln for the regional gasification. The financial resources were committed to construction of 4 local pipelines. The works were completed in pursuance with the schedule plan. In 2007 Gazprom plans to commit RUR 360 mln for gasification of the region.
