On December 14-17, the RF delegation headed by the RF Prime Minister, Mikhail Kasyanov, paid an official visit to Japan. Gazprom’s Management Committee Deputy Chairman, Alexander Ananenkov, was a member of this delegation.
During the visit to Japan, A. Ananenkov met H. Andzay, Chairman of the Japanese-Russian Committee for Economic Cooperation, top managers of the Japanese Association for Trade with Russia and Eastern Europe (ROTOBO) and heads of Japan’s largest energy companies.
The parties discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, in particular, the prospects for delivering Russian hydrocarbons inclusive new eco-friendly fuels to Japan.
The parties also paid special attention to possible cooperation between Gazprom and Japanese companies in developing GTL technologies and discussed Japan’s future demand for natural gas and products of NG processing.
“It’s Gazprom’s top priority task to develop cooperation with Japan, the Republic of Korea and other countries of Asia Pacific. We think that this is a golden opportunity to diversify our gas sales markets, gas transportation routes and delivery means, and gas processing activity”.
