JSC “IDGC of Volga” – “Penzaenergo” branch experts are doing a purposeful work in prevention and exposure of thefts. It is a big package of measures, including an active cooperation with law-enforcement authorities, meetings with heads of regions and rural districts, with Civil Defense and Emergency Management Departments’ heads of district authorities, and raise of public awareness. The result of all above-mentioned measures is the considerable reduction of this sort of crimes. In comparison with 2007 year the number of electric equipment thefts in the branch units of JSC “IDGC of Volga” – “Penzaenergo” reduced in 1,7 times. Only 20 electric equipment thefts were stated in 2008. The number of thefts fell down by 14 in comparison with 2007. All cases of thefts led to the institution of legal proceedings. At present time 2 men were brought to trial and convicted. The whole damage made by the evil-doers was over 490 thousand rubles. The amount of loss including repair-and-renewal operations expenses is over 947 thousand rubles. In 2008 year the active work for electric equipment theft prevention in the sites would be continued.
