In the first quarter of 2006 North-West Telecom put into operation 7,000 new telephone numbers in St. Petersburg, having increased the installed capacity of the St. Petersburg branch to 2,173,000 numbers.

JSC North-West Telecom has continued implementing the Programme for Providing Telecommunication Services to Residents of St. Petersburg for the Years 2005 -2007, approved by the Ministry for Information Technologies and Communications of Russia and by the Government of St. Petersburg. As a result of implementing the provision s of the Programme, 4,700 applications were satisfied during the first quarter of 2006, more than a thousand of which were registered before 01.01.2005. Most of the applications were satisfied in Kalininsky, Vyborgsky, Krasnoselsky and Nevsky districts of the city. Besides, 83 applications for installation of telephone communication from the disabled and participants of WWII and from equal categories of citizens were satisfied in the first quarter of 2006.

19,900 applications for telephone installation were registered by the St. Petersburg branch as of 1st April 2006.

In the first quarter of 2006 decade-step exchanges ATS-245 Flyugovskaya, ATS-247 Tikhoretskaya, ATS 318-7 Drovyanaya and crossbar ATS-538 Grazhdanskaya 1 with the total number capacity of 29,000 numbers were switched over to digital equipment.
