Moscow, 6 March 2007. RAO "UES of Russia" has released a progress report on the implementation of the Investment Programme by the RAO UES companies in February 2007.
On 12 February, the Sverdlovskaya CHPP of OAO "TGC-9" completed the project to upgrade its third turbine generator. The hydraulic turbine control system was replaced with an electronic hydraulic one. This helped improve the turbine reliability and stability, specifically such characteristics as the turbine rotor speed and electrical capacity.
On 28 February, OAO "WGC-5" completed the project to modernize power unit 1 at the Konakovskaya TPP and brought on line the upgraded ?-300-240-7?? turbine, with the capacity increasing from 330 MW from 300 MW.
OAO "UES FGC" completed the first phase of modernization of two substations. A new 110 kV outdoor switchgear and a 330/110 kV autotransformer with a 200 MVA capacity were put into operation at the Leningradskaya Substation of the North-West Transmission Grids branch of FGC. This helped significantly improve the reliability of electricity supply via 110 kV lines to the key facilities in St.-Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. A 330 kV gas-insulated switchgear was installed at the 330 kV Mashuk Substation of the Southern Transmission Grids branch of FGC.
The Central Transmission Grids branch of OAO "UES FGC" launched a capacity expansion project at the 500 kV Raduga Substation seeking to increase its capacity by 500 MVA. The additional capacity that will come on stream will make it possible to connect a new major industrial consumer, OAO "United Metallurgical Company - Steel".
The RAO UES interregional distribution companies started the construction of three 110 kV substations. Specifically, construction is underway at the 110/10 kV Vesennaya Substation in the Omsk Region. The new facility with 80 MVA transformer capacity will become the source of electricity to new customers in the left bank part of the city of Omsk.
The construction and installation works to modernize the 110/6 kV Vostok Substation of 100 MVA started in the Saratov Region. When the project is completed, the substation will ensure reliable electricity supply to new industrial consumers in the city of Engels.
Moreover, last month, the distribution grid companies started modernization of over twenty 110 kV substations and about 100 km of 110 kV overhead and cable lines.
