Rostelecom’s delegation is attending the Russian-Chinese economic forum (March 21-22, 2006, Beijing) held during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China.

At the themed session “Chinese-Russian cooperation in the field of information technologies”,  General Director of Rostelecom Dmitry Yerokhin gave a report where he highly appreciated the existing business ties and spotlighted collaborative opportunities.

During the past year, traffic transmission from Russia to China through Rostelecom’s network has doubled and, to get this growth sustained, the Company continues to reinforce partnership with the leading Chinese operators such as China Network Communications Group (CNCG) and China Telecom. The cooperation prospects include expansion of traffic exchange and the development of joint infrastructure between Rostelecom’s network and the networks of largest backbone operators of China.

Another field for successful cooperation between Russia and China is implementation of the Europe-Asia transit (TEA) project offered by Rostelecom. As Russia’s national long-distance telecommunications operator, the Company has a unique transcontinental technical infrastructure to provide the shortest and most reliable terrestrial route for considerable traffic transmission between the two regions.

“We are considering a number of prospects in enhancing bilateral cooperation,” Dmitry Yerokhin  said. “The Company is interested in increasing volumes of both-way traffic transmitted by optimal prices, provision of new services and finding new partners among Chinese operators.”
