Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman has named today Alexander Medvedev as Acting Deputy Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee. Along with overseeing Gazprom’s export policy and foreign relations, A. Medvedev will remain at his post of Gazexport’s Director General.
Alexander Medvedev’s candidacy is pending approval by Gazprom’s Board of Directors.
Yury Komarov, previously serving as Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee, will oversee the Company’s liquefied natural gas projects.

Born in 1955, Alexander Ivanovich Medvedev graduated with honors from the Moscow Physical and Technical Institute in 1978. A. Medvedev is a PhD in economics and member to the International Academy for Investments and Construction Economics.
Between 1978 and 1989, A. Medvedev worked at the Global Economy and Foreign Relations Institute with the USSR Academy of Sciences. Over 1989 to 1991, Mr. Medvedev was Director of the Soviet Donau-Bank AG (Austria) and Managing Director of its subsidiary Inter Trade Consult GmbH.
From 1991 to 1996 and from 1998 to 2002, A. Medvedev was Director of the Austrian IMAG Investment Management & Advisory Group GmbH. Between 1997 and 1998 he served as Vice President of Eastern Oil Company.
In August 2002, A. Medvedev was appointed as Director General of Gazexport being renamed into Gazpromexport. Mr. Medvedev is Member to Gazprom’s Management Committee.
Born in February 1945, Yury Alexandrovich Komarov graduated in 1971 from the Moscow Energy Institute, getting specialty in industrial electronics and in 1980 from the All-Union Foreign Trade Academy, obtaining a degree in foreign economic relations.
In 1991, Yu. Komarov joined Gazprom. Over 1996 to 1998, Mr. Komarov was First Deputy Director General and Director General of the Gazexport Foreign Trade Company. Starting 2002, Yu. Komarov has been Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee.
