GAZPROM

June 7, 2005

On Alexey Miller’s working meeting with Chen Geng

Gazprom’s Headquarters has hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Gazprom’s Management Committee Chairman and Chen Geng, President of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

The parties gave a positive evaluation of the progress in the Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between Gazprom and CNPC, pointing, in particular, to the intensive interaction within the Joint Coordinating Committee and Working Groups.

Alexey Miller and Chen Geng paid special attention to the outlook of natural gas deliveries from Russia to China, expressing a common opinion that the Program on setting up an integrated gas production, transmission and supply network in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, taking into account potential gas exports to Asia Pacific would establish the environment for gas supplies on a long-term and mutually beneficial basis.

Reference:

Gazprom and CNPC signed the Agreement on Strategic Cooperation on 14 October 2004 in Beijing within the official visit of the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin to the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

The Agreement covers a wide spectrum of issues, including scrupulous discussion of Gazprom’s natural gas deliveries to PRC.

To supervise the Agreement implementation, the parties set up a Joint Coordinating Committee. The Committee resolved to set up Working Groups for Cooperation.

Being the largest 100%-state run oil and gas business in the country, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is a leading integrated oil and gas company of the world.

Incorporated in 1998 on the platform of the Oil Industry Ministry of PRC, CNPC is comprised today of companies running business in oil and gas exploration, development, production, transmission, storage as well as in oil refining, petrochemistry and research.
